Heritage Days Open House

Weekend in mid-September when important historical and cultural buildings are open to the public, including the Centre Quaker.

Writing (or planning) a novel, a script, poetry, non-fiction or a memoir?  We offer a writing retreat for 5 to 10 days  in the beautiful setting of our historic Meeting House and Garden at Centre Quaker in Congenies

Language of Programme: English

If you wish, bring something you are already working on: give yourself the time and space to linger over it and let it develop. A perfect opportunity to work, in peaceful surroundings, on a second or third draft. Or come with an open mind and see where the week takes you.

Each day there will be a different stimulus for your writing which you can either engage with, or choose to do your own thing. After writing in the morning you may wish to borrow a bicycle and enjoy an afternoon ride through medieval villages, or go for a walk in the hills overlooking the vineyards and olive groves, either on your own or with others on the retreat. Or simply rest, sleep, read – or write.

There will be opportunities to read your work to the group. There will also be guidance to help you on presenting your work in public.

Kim Hope: writer and educator will use her extensive experience in participatory and theatre-based training to offer warmups, drama, and improvisation games and coaching to help bring alive your work and encourage your written voice to appear on the page.
